Shaw’s Crab House’s weeklong 19th Royster with the Oyster Festival kicks off Friday, October 12th,
at Shaw’s Schaumburg, where slurpers will receive free oysters with the purchase of any Goose Island Beer from 5:30–7:30 PM. Nightly oyster deals continue all week at both locations, and from October 15th–18th festivities include oyster eating contests (6 PM, both locations). Winners will get the chance to compete in the Grand Slurp-Off at Shaw's Chicago on Friday, October 19th (7:30 PM), and the champion will walk away with a $1,000 prize.
The slurping finale is part of Shaw's streetfest-style tent party, a fall favorite with attendance over 7,000, live music starting at 3 PM and an oyster shucking contest at 4:30 PM in which shuckers compete for $500 and bragging rights (3–10 PM; $10 entrance fee; “oyster bucks” food and beverage tickets available for purchase; Hubbard St. in front of the Chicago Shaw’s).
