River North gets two new culinary contenders as Graham Elliot Bowles abandons Avenues for his eponymous restaurant, Graham Elliot, coming this spring to the former Allen’s space (217 W. Huron St.), and Govind Armstrong readies Table 8. With locations of Table 8 on both coasts (L.A., South Beach), Armstrong – protégé of super-chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger (Border Grill, Ciudad), Wolfgang Puck (Spago), Nancy Silverton at Campanile and Joachim Splichal (Patina), and author of Small Bites, Big Nights – soon comes to the third coast with his distinctive New American cuisine and is seeking an established Chicago chef to run his River North outpost at a top-secret location. Meanwhile, Avenues has snagged Curtis Duffy, veteran of Alinea, Trotter’s and Trio.
