Two Very Different Italian Dinners

If you're looking for an affordable Italian feast to hold you over from the Thanksgiving turkey to the Christmas ham, look no further than Lakeview's Angelina Restaurant. On Tuesday, December 9th, the restaurant's executive chef Fred Ramos will be hosting a representative from Southern Wine and Spirits to discuss wine over a five-course dinner with pairings that includes shellfish cannelloni, beef braciole with garlic and herb whipped potatoes, and warm quince cake with cranberry sauce and cinnamon ice cream (7 PM; $55 per person; 773-935-5933).

Angelina a bit too rich for your blood during the shopping season? No worries. That same evening, nearby pizzeria Frasca is hosting a different kind of Italian wine dinner. Chef Javier Gomez and owner Josh Rutherford will be teaching guests how to make pizza dough from scratch as well as how to make three different types of thin-crust specialty pizzas – margarita, caponata and pepperoni. During the class, guests will enjoy two glasses of vino and get to taste what they're learning to make (7 PM; $20 per person; 773-248-5222).
