Once a week, starting May 4 until the end of the month, River West's Ben Pao will sound a golden gong at some point during dinner service, resulting in every table receiving $50 off its check. That’s about a one-in-eight chance diners will receive a bailout – better odds than the government coming to your rescue. Dinners under $50 will be complimentary, but, understandably, the difference won't be paid by the restaurant (Monday–Thursday; doesn't apply to tax or gratuity; 312-222-1888).
