Looking for someplace to go loco on Cinco de Mayo? No problemo, we've got options for you:
On Saturday, May 2, Pilsen's El Zocalo plaza is hosting a "Mole de Mayo" festival with margaritas, micheladas, an outdoor market and mariachis plus a mole cook-off with celebrity judging starting at noon. Participating restaurants include Riques, Mundial Cocina and more. The cost to enter? A recession-friendly $1 per person (11 AM–7 PM; 18th and S. Paulina Sts.).
On the holiday itself, your options expand. At Carnivale in West Town there will be a slew of Cinco specials, including $5 guac, $25 chile-braised lamb shank and $8.50 house margaritas. Newcomer Nacional 27 is hosting its first Cinco de Mayo party, which for $27 per person features margaritas, sangria, tapas and dancing from 6–9 PM. Finally, Adobo Grill is offering special menu items, as well as hosting a mariachi band from 6–9 PM.
Or, you could just visit one of our top rated Mexican restaurants, including Topolobampo, Frontera Grill, Dorado, Café 28 and Salpicon.
