May 1 & 3: La Cucina Caldesi (118 Marylebone Ln., W1; 020-7487 0750/9), the cookery school owned by Caldesi restaurant, is featuring a Fish & Seafood Extravaganza in support of Slow Fish Week (May 4th–7th). At the May 1st class, learn how to choose the freshest ingredients and how to clean, fillet and cook fish in a variety of ways; the course is followed by a three-course lunch with wine (10:30 AM–2:30 PM; £90 per person). The May 3rd class includes dinner (6:30–9:30 PM; £90 per person).
May 5 &19: Gilgamesh chef Ian Pengelley is offering Pan-Asian master classes the first and third Saturday of each month. The session includes a cookery demonstration in the restaurant’s kitchen. Students will then produce the recipes and sample the dishes while receiving a lesson on pairing food with wine and sake. Courses over the next few months will focus on different subjects including Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Dinner Party Entertaining (noon–6 PM; £100 per person; 020-7482 5757).
May 15: A cookery class at Almeida spotlights lamb, followed by a four-course dinner (3:45 PM; £95 per person; 020-7354 4777).
May 19: La Cucina Caldesi’s "Flirting with Flavour – Cooking for Singles" course is still looking for some men to participate. Cook pasta with different sauces plus a chocolate dessert and then eat what you have prepared. Who knows?
