In September, Rowley Leigh (ex Kensington Place) will open Le Café Anglais, a Parisian-style brasserie serving Modern British cuisine, in Whiteley’s shopping centre in Bayswater (151 Queensway).
The Mayfair pub formerly known as The Running Footman has been bought by the owners of The House in Islington, who are giving it a new name – The Only Running Footman – along with a complete refurbishment; the bar will be on the ground floor, serving a nice selection of ales and light fare like pork pie and oysters, whilst on the first floor there will be a linen-tablecloth restaurant offering a much more extensive menu; expect a September opening (5 Charles St.; 020-7499 2988).
