Quaintly named after an 18th-century tradition that had servants precede horse-drawn carriages on foot to light the road ahead, The Only Running Footman, a diminutive bi-level Mayfair pub, was given a complete refurbishment by The House team; it serves Traditional British gastropub fare in a simply attired, all-day ground-floor bar, whilst the more contemporary upstairs dining room moves the menu up a few notches in ambition and price; there are plans to open a cookery school on the top floor in the new year.
