At the end of November, The Landau, a new Modern European restaurant using top-notch British ingredients, will open in The Langham Hotel in Bloomsbury.
Named after the fancy open carriage that was popular when Langham opened in 1865, this luxurious eatery will actually have an Asian design throughout that will include bespoke antique brass chandeliers. Chef Andrew Turner (ex Pennyhill Park Hotel & Spa in Surrey, 1880) is creating multicourse grazing menus, although à la carte will be available too. Sommelier Zack Saghir, who spent 27 years at Savoy Grill, will be on hand to help guests decide between 1,500 wines, which will be on display in a vaulted wine corridor connecting the lobby and the dining room (Portland Pl., W1; 020-7965 0765).
