The unprepossessing entrance to the 18th-century Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane leads down a barren corridor to The Brickhouse, a bohemian newcomer with edgy modern art on stark white walls and a simple black stage offering nightly cabaret performances, all overlooked by two mezzanine floors serving pricey Modern European fare; there’s also a casual Z-shaped bar, whilst the minimalist top floor bizarrely features four made-up beds open to guests.
