The icy bar at Plateau's temporary Winter Ice Lounge
Plateau isn't letting its fourth-floor Terrace overlooking Canada Square Park go to waste during the cold weather. Instead, it's embracing the chill by teaming up with Smirnoff Black to create a temporary Winter Ice Lounge. Through the end of February, the space has been transformed into a winter wonderland complete with a frozen luge and an ice wall covered in decorative icicles and stalactites.
Shots, which run £7.50 apiece, include the Lemon Drop (Smirnoff Black, cointreau and lemon juice) and the Hot Shot (Smirnoff Black, grenadine and Tabasco) and are served in glasses made of ice. Its innovative list of martini cocktails (£9.50 each) features the Butterfly (Smirnoff Black, apple juice, elderflower cordial, basil and mint) and the Gold Finger (Smirnoff Black, galliano and pineapple juice). In case all that vodka doesn't heat you up, there are fur blankets around to keep you warm (5–10 PM, Monday–Saturday through 29th February; 020-7715 7100).
