Hungry for a Trip to Heathrow?

Gourmet-loving travellers may find themselves booking flights on British Airways just to sample the restaurants at Heathrow’s new Terminal 5. Sure, the promise of being through security in 10 minutes is great, but the true foodie knows the real reason why this terminal is the way to go: Gordon Ramsay Plane Food. Home to breathtaking views of the airport, Ramsay's first airport eatery will have 180 seats and a menu similar to that of his Boxwood Cafe, as it's also being overseen by chef Stuart Gillies; expect dishes like butternut squash risotto and rare roast beef. There will also be takeaway to bring on board.

Although it may be the most exciting, Plane Food is just one of the more than 20 dining areas in the new £4.3bn terminal. Of course there is the usual Starbucks, but there are also outposts of popular London chains like Carluccio's, Giraffe, itsu and Wagamama, which is offering breakfast for the first time ever – think coconut-cream porridge. Indeed, delays and layovers just got a tad more palatable.
