Early this summer, Manicomio will spin off a sibling at the intersection of Gresham Street and Gutter Lane – hence its imaginative name of Manicomio Gutter Lane. The executive chef at the new, larger restaurant will be Tom Salt (current head chef at the original), while Jay Fernandez (ex Nicole's) will handle head-chef duties. The three-story site, designed by Norman Foster, was formerly an ancient Roman roundhouse, which explains why the top-floor bar will be called Roundhouse. The ground floor will serve takeaway and breakfast from 7 AM, while the main restaurant on the first floor will be open for lunch and dinner (6 Gresham St., EC2).
Devonshire Terrace opens in July in the City's new Devonshire Square development. This all-day bar and brasserie is in the same stable as The Admiral Codrington and Vingt-Quatre. The slick, modern space boasts a large terrace on one side and a balcony on the other; the menu will skew British with a New York City twist (Devonshire Sq., EC2).
