In a busy stretch of Clapham devoid of respectable eateries, young chef Craig James (ex Quaglino’s) makes his ownership debut with Brasserie James, a Modern British–French arrival offering a short, regularly changing menu augmented with daily specials; despite hefty prices, it’s a comfy, understated joint set in wood-floored digs with a spacious pavement dining area out front; N.B. brunch is served on weekends.
