The fruits of a £70-million revamp of The Connaught in Mayfair continue to emerge with the unveiling of lauded French chef Hélène Darroze’s elegant dining room, Hélène Darroze at The Connaught, blessed with warm gold and lilac hues, handsome wood panelling and a quirky chandelier of inverted mushrooms; the high-end menu reflects the chef’s roots in Southwestern France and is enhanced by tempting displays of breads, freshly churned butter and a fire engine–red Berkel meat slicer, whilst a sophisticated wine list and little handbag stools beside each table add to the sense of occasion.
