Bourne & Hollingsworth

Named for a department store that used to stand on the site, Fitzrovia bar Bourne & Hollingsworth is a 1920s-speakeasy-style one-of-a-kind with decor that resembles a granny’s front room; drinks are period too – think gin fizzes served in tea cups – and revelers are encouraged to dress up in silk pyjamas or flapper gear, especially on theme nights such as Blitz and Prohibition, the latter featuring gambling; despite the 1 AM license, aim to arrive early and prepared: it holds just 80 people, and when it’s full, only those in appropriate dress are admitted.
