Halloween, that annual excuse to put on a costume and consume too much sugar, lands on a Friday this year, and as usual restaurants around town are planning ghoulish deals.
From noon–7 PM on All Hallow's Eve, Chicago Rib Shack is serving a special three-course menu that includes choices like pumpkin chowder, ribs, barbecue chicken, rib-eye steak, salmon, a "werewolf" cheeseburger and "Frankenstein's" apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. Kiddies dressed up in costumes will be eligible to win a prize, and the kids meal includes a visit to the Halloween pig in the haunted booth, ghostly games and a take-home treat (£25 per adult, £15 per child under 12; 020-7591 4664).
For a Thai-style Halloween, visit Mango Tree in Victoria, where a special menu is being served (alongside the regular menu) from 27th October–2nd November. For £20, diners can partake in items liked spiced prawn and crayfish salad and guinea fowl jungle curry. On 2nd November, from 2–7 PM, kids can enjoy entertainment that includes face painting, balloon modelling, apple bobbing and pumpkin carving, and from 7 PM onwards, there will be an adult-only party with live cabaret music and a prize for the most inspired costume (020-7823 1888).
