Everybody loves a good dinner deal, especially when the world financial markets are shimmying up and down every day. If you've already gone through Zagat's list of Best Buys, consider the following prix fixe bargains. We've pulled together five different deals with five different cuisines, all of which will cost you less than £19.50 per person for a multicourse meal.

El Pirata

5-6 Down St., W1; 020-7491 3810

Get your tapas fix at this Spanish spot in Mayfair. For £14.95 per person, diners can indulge in 10 small plates ranging from rice with chicken to prawns cooked in olive oil, garlic and dried hot chile peppers. For £19.50 per person, diners can get 12 courses (at least two people at the table must participate for either deal).

Lamberts

2 Station Parade, Balham High Rd., SW12; 020-8675 2233

At this Balham Modern British restaurant, the Tuesday–Thursday dinner bargain brings the prices down to £15 for two courses like squash soup with sage crème fraîche and a creamy fish pie with garden peas. And for another £3 you can finish off the meal with pudding or a cheese course.

Mr. Kong

21 Lisle St., WC2; 020-7437 7341

This newly redone Cantonese Chinatown has two impressive set menus for diners looking to save their pounds. For £9.80 you can get soup and a main course, and for £19 you can indulge in a starter, first course, second course and a crispy duck course.

New Tayyabs

83-89 Fieldgate, E1; 020-7247 6400

Head to Whitechapel where £15 will get you a three-course dinner at this Pakistani restaurant that ranks not only as a Best Buy but is also on the Top Food list.

St. Germain

89-90 Turnmill St., EC1; 020-7336 0949

Go French without breaking the bank at this Farringdon brasserie where a two-course lunch or dinner featuring dishes like roasted-pumpkin-and-sage risotto and pan-fried veal Holstein will run you only £15. If that's not enough for you, upgrade to the £18 three-course menu that's available on weekdays only.
