Capturing the zeitgeist to a tee, music mogul Vince Power’s Ladbroke Grove newcomer Liquid Nation Bar & Music features a name that plays on the concept of liquidation, with windows decorated with the likenesses of credit-crunch villains such as Bernard Madoff and Sir Fred Goodwin; inside, East End chic comes to the West End via a bar designed by students from the University of the Arts London (hence the mounted cassettes and records), while live music (Thursday–Saturday) and DJs provide the soundtrack for recession-friendly tippling, with all drinks priced at just £2.50.
