The Criterion, the site of one of the oldest coaching inns in England, now offers afternoon tea for £29. The menu starts off with a glass of champagne, progresses to finger sandwiches and housemade scones with clotted cream, and rounds out with a selection of traditional cakes, tarts and sweets (2:30–5:30 PM, Thursdays–Sundays; 020-7930-0488).
