Osteria Mozza's Mozzarella Bar

The City of Angels has gone mad for mozzarella. It began about a year ago at Jar with Mozzarella Monday – a menu of 15 dishes served on one of the slowest days of the week, all built around the yielding, velvety, mildly tangy flavor of mozzarella. Now with the opening of Mario Batali and Nancy Silverton's Osteria Mozza, mozzarella has become a daily obsession. Indeed, the Osteria is essentially a restaurant built around a rectangular mozzarella bar serving bufala mozzarella with pesto, bufala boconccini with cherry tomatoes, burrata with asparagus, ovaline with prosciutto and more. Think of it as Sushi, The Next Generation.
