Batter Up for Crêpes and Waffles

The Waffle
The Waffle

Two new spots give heightened attention to crêpes and waffles, but that's not all they're serving.

Creperie by Jack n' Jill's, a micro-chain (with branches in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica), brings a bevy of sweet and savory crêpes to the Restaurant Row across from Cedars-Sinai with a glass-fronted space that lends a touch of elegance to the casual style; the affordable menu also includes grilled and rotisserie meals – and a large selection of wines by the glass (8738 W. Third St., Los Angeles; 310-858-4900).

Chef Scooter Kanfer-Cartmill (ex House and Naya) dishes up heartland-inspired and modern-day interpretations of American comfort food for early birds and night owls at The Waffle, a Hollywood diner spiced up with funky artwork; sourced from largely sustainable and organic ingredients, the menu is a locavore’s delight, ranging from carrot cake waffles and gluten-free variations to Cobb salads, gravy fries, shakes and veggie entrees; N.B. open 6 AM–4 AM on weekends and till 2 AM on Thursdays and Sundays (6255 W. Sunset Blvd., Hollywood; 323-465-6901).
