If you've ever wondered what the food and beer was like at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello estate when our third President was living there, TAPS Fish House & Brewery has an evening just for you. The Brea brewery is hosting an "Evening at Monticello" on June 24th built around their Thomas Jefferson Ale, which is made in-house from a recipe used by Jefferson's British brewer. To complement the ale, the restaurant will also be whipping up dishes drawn from Dining at Monticello: In Good Taste & Abundance and Jefferson's Cook Book. The result is a four-course feast with dishes like roasted breast of pheasant, and roasted leg of lamb. It will be like a trip to colonial Virginia, without the hassle of time travel (6:30 PM; $60 per person; call 714-257-0101 to make a reservation).
