Clock Ticking Down on Puck's Fest

With less than a month to go, we thought it might be a good time to remind you about Wolfgang Puck and Barbara Lazaroff's annual American Wine & Food Festival (September 26–28). As reported back in July, the three-day event kicks off with a night at Red Seven, where chefs from CUT, Katana and Lawry's The Prime Rib will be presenting different variations on an American classic, steak (September 26, 7–11 PM; $150 per person; 310-777-3707). On Saturday, some 50 notable chefs including David Burke, Todd English, Dean Fearing and Michael Mina will be preparing their most popular dishes at the Universal Studios back lot (September 27, 6–11 PM; $300 per person; 3900 Lankershim Blvd., Universal City; tickets available online). The grand finale of the event includes a Grand Tasting Dinner at Spago created by Nobu Matsuhisa, Joël Robuchon, Eric Ripert, Sam Mason and other top-notch toques (6 PM, 6:30 PM dinner; $750 per person; call 310-385-0880 for information). Tickets are still available for all three events, but since the festival usually sells out, timely reservations are suggested.
