These three spots are celebrating the birth of our nation with tasty Fourth of July deals.
From July 3–13 Santa Monica newcomer Pourtal is presenting "United Grapes of America." For 10 days, wine director Peter Birmingham is loading his Enomatic machines with 30 wines from 30 different states, ranging from apple cider wine from Maine to Key lime ice wine from Florida (310-393-7693).
On the 4th itself, though there are no fireworks to gaze upon in Beverly Hills, chef Makoto Tanaka is hoping to create culinary sparks with a three-course barbecue menu at his eponymous Asian Fusion spot. The dinner includes a choice of barbecue salmon, chicken, brisket or pork ribs, along with sides served family-style – mac salad, grilled corn, jalapeno cornbread and, of course, Asian coleslaw (5 PM on; $40 per person; 310-288-8338).
Also on the 4th, chef Brian Moyers is covering his blackboard menu at BLT Steak with a plethora of à la carte holiday favorites – including grilled watermelon salad, baked razor clams, smoked pork spare ribs, suckling pig porchetta and strawberry shortcake for dessert (310-360-1950; reserve online).
