Looking forward to the weekend? It isn't that far off, and here are three options to fill up on when it comes:
October 19–24: In honor of the Sofitel Legend Hotel in Hanoi, Simon LA is hosting a three-course Vietnamese meal for six days featuring a seafood and mung bean sprout soup, a pork and beef spring roll with prawns and a banana crème brûlée ($22 per person; 310-278-5444; reserve online).
October 25: Los Angeles magazine hosts its fourth annual Food Event, benefiting the American Heart Association, American Stroke Association and Kids Courage Foundation, from 1–4 PM at the Saddlerock Ranch in the Malibu hills (31727 Mulholland Highway). On the menu are cooking demonstrations by John Rivera Sedlar of Rivera, David Myers of Comme Ça, Suzanne Tracht of Jar, Ludo Lefebvre of LudoBites and Andrew Kirschner of Wilshire, as well as a walk-around tasting of more than 20 restaurants, including Beso, Dominick's, The Hitching Post, Loteria! October 25: Finish the day off at the 25th anniversary party for Chaya Brasserie, where an evening of toasts, tastings and entertainment will unfold from 7–10 PM, with a portion of the admission going to the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program($25 per person; 310-859-8833; reserve online).
