Flower Show Dining Flourishes

Hibiscus margarita, anyone?

Dining possibilities abound around the Philadelphia Flower Show, which takes place from March 2nd–9th at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. It’s next door to the casual culinary destination Reading Terminal Market (which has extended hours during the show) and on the doorstep of Philly’s Chinatown. Try Ly Michael’s, the newly redecorated BYOs Penang and Lee How Fook or the hopping karaoke bar Yakitori Boy.

The flower show inspires Pond Restaurant and the adjacent Bistro Cassis in Radnor to serve a special dinner menu (lobster bisque with an edible-flower garnish, rack of lamb with green lentils and thyme-flower sauce, etc.) throughout March ($45 per person). McGillin’s Olde Ale House, a four-block walk from the floral action, tips its hat to the show's New Orleans theme by offering Cajun dishes from March 2nd–9th. And on Monday, March 3rd, Mexican Post chef Thiago Gomes will perform a live demo at the show, whipping up a hibiscus-flower margarita (3 PM; free with Flower Show admission; Pennsylvania Convention Center, 12th and Arch Sts.).
