Celebrate the countdown to McGillin's Olde Ale House's 150th birthday on August 4 (150 days before its actual anniversary). Don Russell will read from his book, Joe Sixpack's Philly Beer Guide: A Reporter's Notes on the Best Beer-Drinking City in America, and the pub will debut its own brew, the McGillin's 1860 IPA. If you really want to help usher in the new brew, a few days earlier on August 1, McGillin's is organizing a bus trip to Stoudt's Brewing in Adamstown, to retrieve the first kegs and bring back some celebratory firkins. The $20 ticket includes kegs 'n' eggs, a tour of Stoudt's Brewing and lunch (10 AM–4:30 PM; 215-735-5562).
