After 10 years, Wolfgang Puck will close Spago Palo Alto on May 31st, when he'll be on hand at its final dinner service to meet diners and sign menus. There are still a few reservations left if you want to dine on the restaurant's last day (650-833-1000).
The decision to close this location is part of Puck's latest strategy to steer away from stand-alone restaurants in favor of opening properties within luxury hotels à la Cut at the Beverly Wilshire. To that end, he plans to open four new restaurants in the coming year: The Source in Washington, DC's Newseum (September), The Wolfgang Puck Grill in the new MGM Casino in Detroit (October), Spago at Colorado's Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch (November) and a second Cut in Las Vegas' Venetian Hotel.
