Pat Kuleto’s two new restaurants – EPIC Roasthouse and Waterbar – officially opened today along the newly revived Embarcadero waterfront. Both boast smashing Bay Bridge vistas, world-class chefs and a shared outdoor patio right along the water. Celebrity chef-partner Jan Birnbaum (Seattle's Sazerac) prepares updated steakhouse fare in his fancy exhibition kitchen at EPIC Roasthouse, whose classical chophouse decor (think dark, overstuffed leather banquettes) is pretty glam too – athough the real showstopper is the view (369 The Embarcadero; 415-369-9955). Over at Waterbar, chefs Mark Franz and Parke Ulrich’s (Farallon) sophisticated, Mediterranean-inspired seafood is served amid a Jacques Cousteau–worthy setting, replete with two massive cylindrical aquariums swimming with marine life (399 The Embarcadero; 415-284-9922).
