A Dinner for the Delta

The Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta has a direct impact on both the people and agriculture of Northern California. On February 8th at Fort Mason, learn how it's in crisis at the second “Turning the Tables” dinner run by Food from the Parks, a group that looks at the relationship between climate change and food production.

State Sen. Joe Simitian, who authored of a piece of legislation aimed at tackling some of the problems affecting the Delta, will give the keynote speech. But don't worry, this evening about water pollution won't be all dry policy. Patricia Unterman, chef-owner of the Hayes Street Grill, which specializes in sustainably harvested seafood, is preparing a three-course dinner to complement the discourse. The dishes will celebrate the Delta region, such as Delta crayfish and Delta winter vegetables with bagna cauda, shellfish stew, and Meyer-lemon ice cream sandwiches (6:30 PM; $125 per person; 1 Fort Mason; RSVP at www.brownpapertickets.com).
