On May 16th–17th, chefs from near and far will converge on the Monterey Bay Aquarium for a two-day event to promote environmentally sustainable living (and eating), and to raise funds for Seafood Watch, the aquarium's program to support healthy oceans and ecosystems. Cooking for Solutions 2008 kicks off on Friday night with a silent auction and walk-around tasting hosted by Darina Allen and Alton Brown. Dishes from dozens of restaurants, including local favorites like Chez Panisse, Hog Island Oyster Co. and Passionfish, will be on offer, as will samplings of organic wine (7:30–10:30 PM; $115 per person; $95 for Aquarium members; 886 Cannery Row, Monterey; 866-963-9645).
Saturday's highlights include cooking demos and culinary tours; for the full lineup and ticket availability (some events are already sold out), go to www.montereybayaquarium.org.
