City-dwelling fans of Amber India’s legendary butter chicken will no longer have to drive south after Friday, when the 16-year-old restaurant opens its long-anticipated San Francisco branch. Located adjacent to Downtown’s Four Seasons, the newest outpost will offer a slightly updated riff on its classic Northern Indian menu, with a greater nod to local and organic ingredients, presented in a modern, loungelike setting. Owner Vijay Bist has brought on chef Anish Potdar, who’s been honing his dishes at the Santana Row branch for the past year. Amber India Restaurant SF will be open for lunch and dinner, serving lunch buffets midweek and a brunch buffet on the weekends. The lounge (which will stay open an hour after the kitchen closes) will also serve fresh-juice cocktails, premium spirits and a 100-plus wine list.
