Traci Des Jardins' upcoming restaurant in Tahoe has a name and a concept. To be called Manzanita, the venture is set to open in time for the ski season at the new Ritz-Carlton Highlands at Northstar. Inspired by the ubiquitous native Californian tree, the menu will put a regional mountain-resort spin on Des Jardins’ signature French-inspired, sustainably sourced Californian cuisine. Expect dishes like dungeness crab sliders, Liberty Farm duck meatballs and a Moroccan tagine (13005 Ritz-Carlton Highlands Dr., Truckee).
