Like the ocean-fronting Beach Chalet Brewery and Golden Gate Park–facing Park Chalet Garden Restaurant, the forthcoming Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill from restaurateurs Gar and Lara Truppelli hopes to do for Oakland what its siblings did for San Francisco: revive a vintage setting with contemporary Californian cuisine. Set in the newly restored century-old Lake Merritt Boat House, the restaurant is slated to open in August with executive chef Jarad Gallagher (One Market, Michael Mina) serving seasonal seafood like Dungeness crab cakes and petrale sole piccata along with crowd-pleasers like babyback ribs, burgers and, of course, Beach Chalet beers. The true lure, however, should be the 100-seat outdoor lakeside barbecue and bar area (1520 Lakeside Dr.; 510-653-8660).
