Showdogs' owners are hoping diners will put their money where their mouths are with a new politically inspired menu item aimed to draw awareness and support for a local ballot initiative on the upcoming November 3 election. The "Prop D Dog" – featuring a Fatted Calf organic duck sausage, topped with Dijon mustard and daikon sprouts – is being offered daily through November 3 for $8. Proposition D would create a special sign district on Market Street between Fifth and Seventh Streets (where Showdogs resides), allowing for the construction of new billboards and theater marquees in the hopes of bringing more revenue into the area.
