Southern-Style Eating Alfresco

Indigo Landing encourages picnicking by the Potomac River at its outdoor deck or lounge tables with menu items served informally for sharing – hushpuppies, fried seafood, corn dogs and even beers can be ordered by the bucket ($6–$18; 703-548-0001).

If you can’t travel all the way to Louisiana for an authentic roll-up-your-sleeves crawfish boil, then head over to the area near the Convention Center to Acadiana, which is steaming those delicious, seasonal crustaceans known as “mud bugs” and dishing them up with corn, potatoes and plenty of Cajun seasoning ($13 per pound of crawfish). Enjoy them on the patio with an iced bucket of Abita beers ($12 for four beers) from 3:30–6:30 PM on Fridays through June 20th. The regular menu is available as well (202-408-8848).
