Chicken pot pie and tacos? An unlikely combination, yes, but one that can be found on weekdays nestled behind the courtyard patio at Johnny's Half Shell thanks to its new Mexican counterpart, Taqueria Nationale. On the takeout-only menu, you'll find five kinds of tacos ($1.75–$2.50), salads and a "plata tipico Americana" (chicken pot pie, meatloaf, etc.), as well as breakfast (7 AM–3 PM; 202-737-0400).
And if you're looking for a place to picnic, just head across the street to the grounds of the Capitol.
