Happy Hours Made for Summer

Take advantage of the long summer evenings for leisurely sipping and snacking at Juniper's "West End Wednesdays," held in its secluded, flower-filled courtyard – one of the most romantic spots in town – where guests can order three sampler servings of its Modern American entrees for $19, along with half-priced bottles of wine (5–8 PM; 202-457-5020).

Everything is coming up rosés at Poste Moderne Brasserie, which will be serving a flight of three pink wines paired with four "bites" ($25), such as slow-roasted wild Alaskan salmon with parsley coulis, every evening all summer long in its lively bar, glassed-in pavilion and elegant hidden courtyard, where the parsley and other herbs are grown (202-783-6060).

When the weather turns sultry, weekday happy hour tipplers (5–7 PM) will find cool deals indoors at Olives' lounge, where a choice of libations (martini, mojito, draft beer and sangria) is offered for $5 each, along with small plates generally priced from $6–$10 (202-452-1866).

Everyday from 5–7 PM, Bangkok Joe's offers Thai street-food tidbits such as grilled chicken or beef meatballs in chile sauce, or deep-fried sesame green beans ($2–4), along with half-priced martinis, beer, wine and specialty drinks in the air-conditioned comfort of its bar (202-333-4422).
