Washington D.C.

September Sneak Peek

Local talents are bringing a spark to Silver Spring dining options: Nicaro, a Contemporary American showcasing the Latin-accented cooking of Pedro Matamoros, formerly of Tabard Inn, will open in September (8229 Georgia Ave.), as will an outpost of popular Bethesda trattoria Olazzo (8235 Georgia Ave.).

Eagerly awaited neighborhood eateries Kemble Park Tavern in Palisades (5125 Mac Arthur Blvd.) and the American, art deco–themed Restaurant 3 in Clarendon (2950 Clarendon Blvd.) are also expected to be up and running soon.

Alexandrians will no longer have to cross the Potomac to sample Jamie Leeds' fin fare. She’ll be cloning Hank’s Oyster Bar in Old Town in mid-September (1026 King Street).

Another well-regarded chef, Tosca partner Cesare Lanfranconi, will be cooking at the Italian Spezie when it reopens shortly after its spiffy redo (1736 L St.). Lanfranconi will remain a partner at Tosca.

Also on the near horizon are the loungey Hudson (2030 M St.), formerly David Greggory, and Alison Swope’s eclectic Restaurant K (1700 K St. NW) – both slated to bring their distinctive Contemporary American cooking styles to the West End in the next few weeks.

And let's not forget NYC imports Le Pain Quotidien (2815 M St. NW) and Chop’t Creative Salad (703 7th St. NW), which are expected to open shortly in Georgetown and the Penn Quarter respectively.
