Indigo Landing, whose Alexandria location on the Potomac River near National Airport would seem to be ideal for enjoying the recent glorious weather, is closing early for the winter season on October 1st, with promises to reopen in the spring. Bikers, hikers, plane spotters and others looking for daytime sustenance will have to stop by the Afterdeck Café, a casual eatery that shares Indigo Landing's building, outdoor seating and matchless vistas.
Meanwhile Dan Mesches, whose Star Restaurant Group LLC developed Indigo Landing, is turning his talents to opening an Italian restaurant and bakery in the landmark Downtown Woodward Building (733 15th St. NW) this fall. Indigo Landing’s opening chef, Bryan Moscatello, will be at the helm of this new venture. Those who will miss the view of the monuments from Indigo Landing can take heart in knowing that they will be able to see them from this one, too – just from a different perspective.
