French Wine Destinations, Passport-Free

On Wednesday, April 2nd, more than two dozen Maison Louis Latour red and white Burgundies, along with Simmonet-Febvre sparkling wines (also from Burgundy), will be poured during a walk-around tasting event at the Park Hyatt; there'll also be stations serving roasted suckling pig, leg of lamb, salmon and cheese (6:30–9:30 PM; $99 per person; 1201 24th St. NW; 202-966-0445).

The French Embassy will host a tasting of Rhône Valley wines from prestigious appellations including Châteauneuf du Pape, Côte Rotie, Crozes-Hermitage, Gigondas, Saint-Joseph and Vacqueyras on Thursday, April 17th. Oenophiles can sample the regions' various reds, whites and rosés – comparing the differences between north and south – while snacking on hors d’oeuvres from top DC restaurants like Citronelle, Ici and Willard Room (6–8:30 PM; $79 per person; $65 for French Wine Society members; 4101 Reservoir Rd.
