On Saturday, April 12th, as the Cherry Blossom celebrations wind to a close, the 48th Annual Sakura Matsuri Street Festival will come into bloom. A lively celebration of Japanese culture (it's the largest Japanese street festival in the U.S.), this year's festivities will include vendors offering foods from spots like Hama Sushi and other local Asian kitchens as well as a beer garden, sake tastings, sumo wrestlers, J-pop music, anime exhibits and a Ginza-style shopping arcade. The festival is free to the public (11 AM–6 PM; 12th St. NW between Constitution and Pennsylvania Aves. and along Pennsylvania Ave. from 10–14th Streets NW; go to www.sakuramatsuri.org for details).
There is something for everyone at the annual Sakura Matsuri festival.
