That annual appreciation of all things maternal, Mother's Day, is
almost here. If you want to treat mama to a celebratory meal, you'd
better make your reservation soon because Mother's Day is the most
popular day of the year to dine out. To get you started, here are some deals that DC-area restaurants have cooked up for Sunday, May 11th.
Bastille: A quaint garden and picturesque dining room in Old Town provide the backdrop for a three-course brunch featuring the likes of poulet-en-croute stuffed with foie gras or roasted salmon ($28 or $37 with a cheese course); a special menu for the 12-and-under set will also be on hand ($16). IndeBleu: Recently arrived chef Michael Hartzer will display his modern American take on Indian cuisine with a three-course brunch ripe with choices like veal and asparagus and a spiced blue crab bearnaise. Morrison-Clark Inn: The intimate Victorian dining room, parlor and picture-perfect veranda at this Downtown classic are sure to charm mom, as will a three-course, Southern-accented brunch with choices like cider-glazed pork chops with spoon bread or pan-roasted trout with BBQ shrimp and grits (11:30 AM–3 PM; $48 per adult; $55 with champagne; $20 for children under 12; 202-898-1200).
Ping by Charlie Chang: Mothers who celebrate at Shirlington Village's new Chinese–Asian fusion will be gifted with a floral tribute and a complimentary glass of sparkling wine or blooming jasmine tea; the bargain-priced, three-course meal will include prettily plated choices like battered shrimp with honey-cream sauce and cantaloupe, followed by mango mousse cake or hazelnut dacquoise (noon–10 PM; $16.95 per person; 703-671-4900).
