May 8th–13th is World Cocktail Week, and the proof is at Proof. The wine-centric New American in Penn Quarter is gathering 10 top DC mixologists – including Derek Brown (Komi), Gina Chersevani (EatBar), Tood Thrasher (Restaurant Eve) and, of course, Proof's own Sebastian Zutant – to shake and stir unique creations matched to passed hors d'oeuvres and a seated five-course dinner on May 12th. As for the solids part of the night, Proof's chef Haidar Karoum will prepare dishes like sake-marinated salmon with pickled mushrooms and
tamari-radish emulsion that pair well with the mixed drinks. All proceeds raised from the evening will go to support New Orleans' future Museum of the American Cocktail, the nonprofit sponsor of World Cocktail Week (7 PM; $135 per person; 202-737-7663).
