The sounds of bluegrass will mingle with the smells of pit-roasted chickens at Chicken and Pickin’, a two-day music-and-food extravaganza held outdoors (weather permitting) at Clyde’s at Willow Creek Farm in Broadlands, VA, on Saturday, June 21st, and Sunday, June 22nd. Music from local acts like the Sol Creech Band (plus lots of informal jamming) will set the soundtrack while visitors picnic on barbecued birds, hot dogs, coleslaw, potato salad, cornbread, berry shortcake, watermelon and soda or beer ($8.95 for a half chicken and choice of two sides). Guests are encouraged to tour the picturesque pond, the restored barns and the vegetable and herb gardens that grow produce for the restaurant (June 21, noon–10 PM; June 22, noon–7 PM; 571-209-1200).
