Chef Stefano Frigerio will be leaving Mio on August 1st. Frigerio is credited with bringing innovative, culinary excitement to this Downtown New American, and the restaurant’s owner, Manuel Iguina, praises his work and the “strong team he has put in place.” That team will be serving the Restaurant Week menus he developed throughout the month of August as planned. Frigerio hopes to remain in DC, but has no immediate professional plans.
Changes are also afoot at the Morrison-Clark Inn. Chef Janis McLean, who earned plaudits for her New American fare, has left the restaurant’s kitchen; no replacement has been named. What has been announced are new menus designed to reduce the price point (dinner entrees will average $25 instead of $30) by using simplified preparations and different ingredients – chicken breasts rather than whole roasted chicken. Along those lines, there will also be more salads and sandwiches offered at lunch.
