This weekend (August 23 and 24), the Royal Thai Embassy will host a two-day cultural and culinary festival at Union Station to honor its long-standing diplomatic ties with the U.S. In addition to daylong activities like music and dance performances, kickboxing demonstrations and arts and crafts displays, there will be food from some of DC's Thai restaurants, including Bangkok54 and Bangkok Joe's. Additionally, local chefs will compete in contests for Best Papaya Salad (Saturday 2–4 PM) and Best Pad Thai Noodles (Sunday 10 AM–noon), judged by representatives from the country's four regions (9:30 AM–8:30 PM; 50 Mass. Ave. NE; see more details).
