Experts say 2005 was a stand-out year for Bordeaux wines. How does the soon-to-be-released 2006 vintage compare? Join chef Brian McBride (Blue Duck Tavern) and Calvert Woodley wine-sellers at their annual "Fête du Bordeaux" dinner – happening Thursday, October 23rd, at the Park Hyatt Hotel – and decide for yourself. The five-course menu includes lamb and chickpea puree paired with six 2006 wines from Chateau Marbuzet, Chateau Ormes de Pez, Chateau Langoa-Barton, Chateau Lynch-Bages, Chateau Leoville-Barton and Chateau Cos d'Estournel, while the other courses will be complemented by older vintages. Anthony Barton of Chateau Leoville Barton and Jean-Charles Cazes of Chateau Lynch-Bages will be on hand to provide the winemakers' perspective (6:30 PM; $200 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity; 1201 24th St. NW; call 202-966-0445 or 202-966-4400 for reservations).
