Italian food lovers saddened by the closing of Roberto Donna’s Bebo Trattoria this week will be cheered by news of two forthcoming venues offering accessibly priced red-white-and-green cuisine in chic settings.
Ashok Bajaj, responsible for popular Modern American (701, Oval Room and Ardeo) and Indian (Rasika and Bombay Club) spots, will debut Bibiana Osteria-Enoteca in the Downtown space vacated by Luigino (1100 New York Ave. NW) this fall. Look for a Milano Modern interior with leather, black stone and wood and, of course, plenty of antipasti and vino. Meanwhile, the talents behind the rejuvenation of Teatro Goldoni are signing up for a space near 19th and I Streets NW, where they’ll showcase Goldoni’s chef Enzo Fargione’s takes on casual Neapolitan pizza and small plates; it’s due in winter.
